For the very first time in the history of Wilson College, the BMS department organized “IMPERIAL 2024- The Mastery of Management”, an engaging panel discussion with esteemed resource speakers from the field of management and commerce.
Imperial was crafted for the students of BMS to offer a distinctive platform to glean real life stories, motivation, and crucially, teenage lessons about leadership from industry leaders. The panel discussion was designed to foster engaging dialogue and illuminate futuristic career prospects. Imperial aims to provide efficient problem-solving to give one insight into future career-related opportunities and how to boost your startups and overcome hurdles. To gain a strategic edge by analyzing diverse viewpoints, critical thinking, and seizing or expanding networking opportunities.
The event commenced with IPS officer Prakash Jadhav as the Chief Guest. Followed by the prayer service and the felicitation of the 5 esteemed panelists and the moderator. The panel discussion kicked off with an overview of the current state of the business and corporate environment. The moderator, a skilled industry expert, Mr. Manuraaj Garg, who is a Co-founder and COO At KAGR and, a former senior strategy consultant at Wells Fargo, made it a point to highlight the rapid pace of technological advancements, globalization, and the importance of adaptability in today’s competitive market.
The diverse panelists, representing various sectors, brought a wealth of perspectives to the table. To answer the questions posed by the moderator and the curious minds of the attendees, Imperial entertained a total of 5 skilled panelists, starting with Mr. Geogi Zachariah, a Sr. General Manager at Malayalama Manorama Co. Ltd who emphasized the necessity of digital transformation, highlighting its integration into the entire business ecosystem and evolving customer needs were discussed, focusing on the creators and entrepreneurs economy. Next, on the panel was Mr. Raj Sukheja, the CEO- of Red Mammoth Ventures who stressed loyalty and how failure is the initial step to learning. Followed by Mr. Mohammad Virani, a brand strategist and academician, who stated that Gen Z is fearless and also mentioned how they should channel their energy in the right direction. Amazing points were put forward by Dr. (Capt.) Karandeep Singh, decorated former Army captain, Ph.D. Edupreneur, TEDx keynote speaker who then shed light on the changing dynamics for young professionals in India, stressing their increasing ability to take risks and explore exponential growth opportunities. Last but not least, CMA Sarvottam Rege, a Certified Management Accountant (USA) and member of ICMA shared a compelling story of a Maharashtrian family’s shift to entrepreneurship, aligning with the current era as the creators’ and entrepreneurs’ economy. The primary focus of the panelists was decoding the importance of analytics and the 1% of the mindset, encouraging entrepreneurs to conduct personal SWOC analysis and focus on mentorship and experience.
These distinguished individuals not only shared their success stories but also provided actionable insights that attendees could apply in their professional journeys. As the management landscape continues to evolve, the wisdom shared by these panelists will undoubtedly serve as a guiding light for leaders navigating the complexities of today’s dynamic business environment.
The event was concluded with an active and lively Q&A session as the listening skills of the participants were put to the test. The collective efforts of the Principal of Wilson College, Prof. Anna Pratima Nikalje, and Incharge of the BMS department Ms. Nilofer Sarang along with the entire organizing committee managed to pull the event together in less than a month were invaluable in making Imperial 2024 a grand success. It has sure created a legacy and left a mark on the following generations of the Wilson BMS wing and will be carried forward.
