Why Did This Happen? The Unanswered Questions

For a young man with such potential, the question remains—why did he take this drastic step? While speculation surrounds his passing, one thing is clear: mental health struggles, academic pressures, or personal battles often remain unseen. In India’s competitive academic landscape, where expectations are sky-high, students often face enormous stress, yet discussions about mental well-being remain limited.

The Bigger Picture – The Silent Struggles of Students

Vansh’s case is not an isolated one. Law school, like many other rigorous academic environments, can be mentally and emotionally exhausting. The pressure to excel, secure top internships, and plan for a future in a highly competitive field can weigh heavily on students.

The tragedy serves as a wake-up call—are we doing enough to support young minds battling unseen battles? Universities, peers, and families need to foster open conversations about mental health. Achievements and accolades should never come at the cost of one’s well-being.

A Call for Better Student Support Systems

Vansh’s story is a wake-up call for institutions to take student mental health more seriously. Universities must:

  • Encourage open conversations about mental health instead of treating it as a taboo subject.
  • Establish better counseling services and ensure they are accessible and stigma-free.
  • Promote a culture where students do not feel pressured to “prove themselves” every day.
  • Introduce policies that balance academic rigor with mental well-being.

Elite law schools like GNLU, NLSIU, and NUJS produce some of the best legal minds in the country, but they also need to ensure that students don’t lose themselves in the process.

A Final Goodbye – Remembering Vansh Gaint

While Vansh’s story has ended too soon, his contributions, achievements, and the impact he had on those around him will not be forgotten.

As we remember him, let’s also remember the importance of checking in on those around us, encouraging open discussions about mental health, and ensuring that no one has to battle their struggles alone.

Rest in Peace, Vansh Gaint.
