The Dr. Gita Piramal Scholarship for Indian Students at Oxford University

Oxford University’s Somerville College has announced the Dr. Gita Piramal Scholarship, aimed at supporting Indian students pursuing higher education in fields related to sustainable development. This scholarship is a collaboration between the college, the Oxford India Centre for Sustainable Development (OICSD), and the Piramal family, honoring Dr. Gita Piramal’s legacy in academia and corporate leadership.

The Dr. Gita Piramal Scholarship provides financial assistance that covers course fees, living expenses, and travel costs for the entire duration of the recipient’s studies. For the 2025 entry, one scholarship will be awarded, focusing on students in need.

To qualify, applicants must be Indian residents enrolled in one of the following full-time courses:

  • MSc in Biodiversity, Conservation and Nature Recovery
  • MSc in Economics for Development
  • MSc in Education (Child Development and Education)
  • MSc in Education (Comparative and International Education)
  • MSc in Education (Digital and Social Change)
  • MSc in Energy SystemsMSc in Environmental Change and Management
  • MSc in Global Governance and Diplomacy
  • MSc in Global Health Science and Epidemiology
  • MSc in Nature, Society, and Environmental Governance

The selection process will consider academic performance and alignment with the objectives of the OICSD. This approach ensures that recipients can contribute to local and global communities.

Prospective applicants can complete a short online form to express their interest in the scholarship and provide information about their financial situation.
