Ajay Devgn’s latest Diwali release, Singham Again, directed by Rohit Shetty, has held steady through its Monday test despite a significant dip after the holiday weekend. The film, which saw a massive opening weekend, earned Rs 17.50 crore on Monday, a 51 percent drop from Sunday’s Rs 35.75 crore. Given the holiday surge, this drop was anticipated, as industry standards indicate a Monday drop of up to 70 percent would still signal a strong box office run.
Trade tracker Sacnilk reported that Singham Again’s four-day total has reached Rs 139 crore in India, while its global gross sits comfortably at Rs 186 crore. This puts it well on the path to crossing Rs 200 crore worldwide. Monday’s figures were also achieved despite the film’s clash with Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3, which has shown an impressive performance itself. The Kartik Aaryan starrer saw a 47 percent dip on Monday but still managed Rs 17.50 crore, bringing its domestic total to Rs 123 crore and global gross to Rs 185 crore.
This rivalry has given box office watchers plenty to discuss, as Singham Again was widely predicted to be the “bigger” film due to its ensemble cast, including Akshay Kumar, Kareena Kapoor, Deepika Padukone, Ranveer Singh, Tiger Shroff, and Arjun Kapoor.
Now, both films stand to benefit from a clear November release calendar, with the next big clash slated for December 6 when Allu Arjun’s Pushpa 2 and Vicky Kaushal’s Chhaava hit screens.
Back home, Singham Again is closing in on the record set by Ajay Devgn’s earlier 2024 release, Shaitaan, which minted Rs 149 crore in India. Devgn’s fans are now wondering whether it can go on to surpass his previous box office triumphs like Drishyam 2, which grossed Rs 240 crore, or even Tanhaji, which remains his highest domestic earner at Rs 279 crore.
Directed by Shetty, Singham Again sees Devgn reprising his role as Bajirao Singham, a fearless police officer on a high-stakes cross-border mission to rescue his wife, Avni (Kareena Kapoor), from the clutches of the villainous Danger Lanka. With familiar faces like Ranveer Singh’s Sangram Bhalerao from Simmba and Akshay Kumar’s Veer Sooryavanshi, it continues the action-packed saga that fans have come to expect from Shetty’s cop universe.
